Adventures in Llanes

This post features student writing.

On Monday we arrived Llanes after a five-hour bus ride separated by a lunch break of native dishes, including la tortilla española. We checked into our hotel, and took a short walk to dinner. The next morning we had a blast at our surf lesson in San Vicente de la Barquera and went shopping through a street market. We enjoyed a picnic lunch on the beach, and played games such as volleyball and badminton. After a short break, the group walked to a pizza restaurant and dined outside in the town square. For dessert, we ate delicious ice cream. On Wednesday morning we woke up early and hiked through the mountains in Covadonga, the location of the first battle of the Spanish Reconquista. There were beautiful views, local animals, and two lakes. Once we had finished our hike, we visited a cathedral in a nearby town and ate a typical Asturian lunch. After our siesta, we walked through Llanes and split up to try different dishes for dinner. We ended the evening with another round of ice cream. The group is very excited for our Escape the Room tomorrow, after we get a great night of sleep. We miss you all!
