
JULIANNA BEVERIDGE

In college, Julianna focused on Spanish literature and art, after falling in love with Spanish culture while living with host families in Segovia, Zaragoza, and Madrid, Spain. She also explored rural areas of Greece, Italy, and Turkey while studying Classics. After graduation, Julianna began her M.A. program at the University of Virginia. There, Julianna discovered her passion for teaching and she has continued to teach at UVA as a Spanish lecturer since. She also spent summers working with middle and high school students at an academic camp in Charlottesville, where she led the ESL and TOEFL program. Julianna is fluent in Spanish, but also studied Italian and French in college and loves to practice those languages in her spare time. This will be Julianna’s second time leading Language Learning Spain. This fall, Julianna will return to teach at UVA.
TWIGGS MILLER
University of San Francisco, B.A., Spanish Studies
While at the University of San Francisco, Twiggs focused his studies on the language and culture of the Spanish-speaking world. His primary interests are linguistics, second language acquisition, visual arts, history, and cuisine. At USF he also helped to put on the annual USF Human Rights Film Festival, first working as a volunteer and then as a research assistant and coordinator, helping to research, select films, and contact filmmakers, companies, and organizations, as well as doing community outreach. Outside of school, Twiggs nurtured his passion for the arts by working for five years at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco (the de Young and Legion of Honor Museums) in different capacities. Twiggs studied in Zaragoza, Spain, with School Year Abroad and also spent time studying in Ecuador. At the moment, Twiggs is teaching English in a primary school in Madrid, Spain. When not teaching, he spends his time taking advantage of all that Madrid has to offer with its abundance of culture, art, cuisine, and Spain’s rich beauty.
